Students

Student volunteers doing patient registration

Student opportunities are open on an ongoing basis. Bilingual skills are very helpful - especially in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese and Arabic. Regular participation in either clinic is preferable but we can accommodate some individual shifts as well.

Shifts are 5.5 hours but we can accommodate 8 hours on Thursdays for students looking to commit to a more regular and intensive community health experience.

Student volunteers assist with the following both on-site and on “roving” teams (under the supervision of a licensed provider):

  • Screen patients for vaccine eligibility
  • Administer vaccines to pediatric and adult patients
  • Document in EMR and issue CDC cards
  • Provide harm reduction supplies and education
  • Assist with wound care
  • Implementation of emergency protocols such as overdose response and anaphylaxis
